International workplacement
Introduction
In this module, you will learn about Office management, and how to view office management in diverse fields of business.
You will learn to understand the importance of office management in businesses and the practical side of it.
The exchange project has a virtual part carried out online. This takes two- four weeks.
After that you will go to the Netherlands for a two-week stay.
This includes short internship visits in Dutch companies with Dutch Graafschap College students.
The virtual part of the project will connect you with the Dutch student group and will help you to get to know the subject.
You will already have done some tasks about the subject.
For all parts of the module you will be working in teams.
This project will allow you to broaden your horizons and develop an understanding of a different European culture.
For the physical exchange part, the two-week visit looks as follows.
First week:
- 1day introduction,
- 2 days of internship/job shadowing in a Dutch company with a Dutch buddy student,
- 2 days attending lectures/workshops and discussing them in class.
Second week:
- 3 days of internship/job shadowing in a Dutch company with a Dutch buddy student,
- 1day attending lectures/workshops and
- 1 day of final presentation on the companies visited and the learning objectives achieved.
Your working hours on school days will be 4-5 hours a day.
Your working hours in the companies will be 6-7 hours a day.

Detailed program
Preparation (Virtual/at home) | 4 week online programme with your entire class 1 hour per week – with whole class(s) Task 1: Exchange (via email or team chat) personal details with the other EU students (name, age, hobbies, studies, where you live etc). Task 2: In own country team, research 1 Irish/Finnish/Dutch company/business (location, product/service, employee numbers etc) Task 3: present your findings from Task 2 (recorded) Task 4: For visiting students only: Complete research on Ireland/The Netherlands/Finland (population, language, location etc) including current rates of unemployment, inflation and economic growth forecasts. Not necessarily simultaneously |
